Coworking spaces were once considered the future of the office, bringing together professionals from a range of different industries and creating an ecosystem of collaboration and mentorship. However, recent reports that WeWork may be filing for bankruptcy, suggest that these spaces may not be as popular as they once were. Read on to find out where there is still demand for these spaces.

Top Cities

Unsurprisingly, London takes the top spot, with approximately 6,000 monthly searches. This may be due to the fact that the capital city is the most expensive place to rent office space in Europe.

Demand for shared office space is significantly lower in the rest of the UK. For instance, Manchester takes the second spot, with only 1,400 searches. To put that into perspective, demand for coworking offices in Manchester is 76% lower than in London.

What’s more, in the third spot is Birmingham. However, there are only around 580 searches for shared working spaces in the second city.

Methodology

To improve the accuracy of our findings, we looked at local keywords, such as “coworking space London” and “coworking space Birmingham”. After all, local keywords show content that is highly relevant to people who are actively searching for shared office space in a specific area. Whereas, general keyword searches can show office spaces in any location or where the user is based, even if they are not looking to work in that area.
